ADC Night 2020 presents its winners

ADC Romania awarded, for the fourth year in a row, the big winners of Top 3 ADC*RO 2019 and presented some of the best works awarded on ADCE Awards 2019. Art Director of the Year is Silviu Antohe (MullenLowe Romania), Copywriter of the Year is Raul Gheba (Sector 7 & MAINSTAGE), Client of the Year is Netflix and Idea of the Year is Romania wants highways - #șîeu. The ADC Night 2020 event took place on on 30th of January at Institute The Café.

Art Director of the Year 2019 is Silviu Antohe (MullenLowe Romania). A project constantly awarded in Top 3 ADC and signed by Silviu is the interactive series called Urban Legends for Lidl – Camara noastra. Two of the episodes won the title Work of the Month: episode 2 (Ultima fila) in July and episode 3 (Safire rosii) in September. The other two episodes: episode 1 (Capcana pentru Vulpe) & episode 4 (Mioara) got the 3rd place in the Digital category for March & November.

Copywriter of the Year în 2019 is Raul Gheba (Sector 7 & MAINSTAGE | THE AGENCY). Projects he worked for: - Ce este pătrunjelul? (Sector 7; 2nd place in April for Digital category); BCR - George Street Gallery (MAINSTAGE | THE AGENCY; Work of the Month in August, Outdoor category); OMV - Șofer de Festival la Summer Well (MAINSTAGE | THE AGENCY; 1st place in August in Experiential/BTL category); Catmobile - Black Friday campaign (Sector 7; 3rd place in November) & Catmobile - Pablofonic x Micutzu (Sector 7; 2nd place in December) for the Digital category.

Idea of the year: Romania wants highways - #șîeu by Ștefan Mandachi & Agora Ideon – it won the Work of the Month in March. The campaign addresses the issue of insufficient highways in Romania and how this problem would solve with the right infrastructure. Stefan Mandachi is the one who started this movement by asking each Romanian to take a 15 minutes break as a sign of protest on 15th of March. Even more, Stefan Mandachi has built the first meter of highway from Moldova to Bucharest? The hashtag #șîeu (Romania wants highways - #metoo) succeeded in bringing thousands of people together and more than 500 companies to protest for those 15 minutes.

Client of the Year is Netflix. The brand was constant this year in Top 3 ADC in promoting its most awaited series: Lucifer (1st place in Digital – June), Stranger Things (1st place in Digital - July), Exam from Netflix (3rd place in Digital – June); La Casa de Papel & Raluca Băraru (1st place in Outdoor - July); La Casa de Papel & Delia (3rd place in Digital – July); El Camino | Aaron Paul’s Interview (2nd place in Digital – October); El Camino (3rd place in Digital – October) & The Witcher (Work of the Month & 1st place in Digital – December).

Some of the most present agencies and companies in Top 3 ADC last year were: McCann Worldgroup Romania, followed by Netflix, MullenLowe România, Publicis România and MAINSTAGE | THE AGENCY.

Another pleasant surprise during ADC Night were the winners of ADCE Awards 2019 festival, organized by Art Directors Club of Europe: where AMVBBDO UK and their campaign - “Viva la Vulva” won the Grand Prix. The ADC*RO members that were part of the ADCE Awards 2019 jury: Ema Prisca, Laura Nedelschi (Independent Creative Directors) and Liviu Țurcanu (Creative Director Mercury360) shared with us the insights of a good submitted project in the ADCE Awards competition.

The winners of Top 3 ADC received trophies made of recycled plastic. This way the second phase of the Plasti Prix project began. Plasti Prix, created by The Institute and Lidl Romania is a project about responsibility and selective collection of waste designed for the creative industry. RDW Awards, Internetics, Civil Society Gala, Bursa Binelui, Webstock and Biz PR Awards will all use trophies made of recycled plastic.

ADC Romania continues its public call for ideas where agencies, freelancers and advertising aficionados can send creative initiatives of their own or seen in the industry. These ideas will be voted by ADC*RO members.
